Dear Members and Friends of La Via Campesina,
We are reaching out to you today with an urgent call for support and collective action. Once more, Cuba finds itself under the boot of imperialism. The unrelenting economic blockade and trade embargo, imposed unilaterally by the United States and now dragging into its seventh decade despite the opposition of the vast majority of the world’s nations, has systematically destroyed Cuba’s ability to produce its own food and exercise its food sovereignty. The resilient and beloved people of Cuba now require a massive show of solidarity from all the concerned peoples of the world.
CROWDFUNDING FOR CUBA
On the 17th of May, together with Cuba’s small farmers’ union, ANAP, and the island’s organized peasantry, La Via Campesina launched a global fundraising drive.
Our aim is to raise 100,000 Euros from this crowdfunding campaign in 40 days, and that can only happen if many people, in many parts of the world, pitch in with whatever they can. We will use this fund to procure and deliver life saving humanitarian aid and agricultural supplies to farming families, rural workers including women, children and the older people, and all those suffering in Cuba’s most devastated rural communities.

As the people who feed the world, and as a movement built on internationalism and global solidarity, we cannot allow anyone in Cuba to go hungry. We must also emphatically denounce the illegality of using collective punishment against an entire society as a coercive tool for geopolitical advantage. Food and essential supplies must never become weapons of war or instruments of coercion.
So we are requesting you to act.
