Bagnolet, October 30, 2025 | On the eve of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held from November 10 to 21, 2025 in Brazil, La Via Campesina, a social movement of more than 200 million peasants and rural, coastal and urban communities, is launching an urgent and radical appeal: the time for false promises and market solutions must end.
We denounce that agribusiness corporations and the governments serving them created the climate crisis and now hijack intergovernmental processes to commodify nature and block change… they are leading us to collapse!LVC MANIFESTO | CLIMATE COP 30
In the face of this reality, our movement reaffirms its path:
- UNDROP in climate governance!
- Comprehensive and Popular Agrarian Reform now!
- Land and rights for those who cool the planet! Peasant agroecology is the answer!
These are real solutions, rooted in Food Sovereignty, dignity, and justice for the peoples of the world.
While COP discusses climate finance and the carbon markets keep turning—where profit sets the pace and life is sold to the highest bidder—we demand climate reparations for both the climate and colonial debt, to pave the way for agroecological transitions, raising our voices:
We propose a new financial paradigm based on unconditional public grants, not loans. These funds must be democratically controlled to drive just and sovereign transitions. […] Equally important is that countries of the Global South can transition on their own terms, with financial reparations, technology transfer, and the autonomy to define their own development paths. […] We promote the building of global solidarity that also supports just and sovereign transitions for the peoples of the Global North, whose control over their own economies is crucial to ending imperialism and the exploitation of the working class and Mother Earth.LVC MANIFESTO | CLIMATE COP 30
COP30 takes place in a context favorable to popular organization, in Brazil, a land of great social movements that do not give up and that welcome us with open arms and hearts in struggle. The convergence we have built at the People’s Summit towards COP30, together with social movements from around the world, gives us the strength and power to confront those who, for 30 years, have hijacked climate governance and stolen from us, year after year, the opportunity to change the course of humanity.
As a movement, we strategically engage in UN spaces to organize collective resistance and make visible the solutions that emerge from the peoples. […] To achieve transformation, we must confront the system with its own tools, accumulating victories that bring us closer to the change we need.LVC MANIFESTO | CLIMATE COP 30
This manifesto is our roadmap at this decisive moment, the pulse of collective action, a requirement for deep systemic transformation. We invite you to join the struggle, to walk with us, shoulder to shoulder. Read our demands, listen to our solutions, and immerse yourself in this manifesto to reflect and move forward together. The manifesto is organized into three parts: the structural causes of the crisis, our demands, and our solutions. We want it to serve as a tool to debate, discuss, and challenge hegemonic narratives.
Let’s Unite and Build Popular power! Together, Let’s Cool the Planet!
Sow the Seeds of a Just Future, with Dignity and Food Sovereignty for all Peoples!
Land and Rights for Those Who Cool the Planet! Peasant Agroecology is the Answer!
